Charter and By-laws for BentShaft Fantasy Golf

This charter describes the basic rules of BentShaft Fantasy Golf common to all leagues. Your league may have fees or prizes specific to your league as defined by your league manager. BentShaft.com is only responsible for managing your teams and determining results for each week and each mini-tour. Your league page will describe the specifics of your league.

Overview

Each team captain, you, maintains an ordered 10 man team of professional golfers using the BentShaft team web page. Golfers have a salary that in most cases is equal to the golfer's previous year's earnings from the major tours (or $500 for new players). Captains may trade for any golfer listed by searching on the BentShaft trade web page. The night before the BentShaft PGA or World Golf Tournament starts, the members of your current team that fit under the salary cap, are considered entered for your team. Your team winnings for the week are the combined tournament winnings of these players. The salary for each player is shown on the trade page and the team page. The salary cap for major tournaments is $30,000,000 and for normal tournaments the cap is $25,000,000 (See below for which tournaments are Bentshaft Majors).

The Tours

The golf year is divided into BentShaft Tours called mini-tours. Here is the list showing the date of the final round for each event. You have until midnight (11:59 pm) pacific time before the first round of that week's tournament to have your team selected. At midnight your current team is used. Changes made to the team made after that time will not be used until the next week's tournament. ** Major ** means the higher salary cap is used when you select your team (the team page can show either the normal or major salary cap).

Season 2007-A Masters Shootout

Season 2007-B Southern Swing

Team Management

BentShaft provides each captain with a random 10 golfers (or possibly your team from last year) to start the first tour. You then use the trade page to replace any or all your players one at a time. The team page allows you to to change the order of your players to see how the salary cap will be applied to your team. The players shown on the team page can be moved up or down by clicking on the arrows next to the players. Changes can only be made on the BentShaft web site. At 11:59pm pacific time, the day before the first round of the week's tournament, the team will be used as is for the weekend. Any changes made after that time will not be used until the next week's tournament. If you make no changes to your team, it will continue to be used as is each week. You should get your team in order as soon as possible in the week in case you later have trouble accessing the BentShaft web site. If you feel a player not listed in the available player list should be added email me, dave@bentshaft.com, with name of the golfer. I will try to add the player in a timely fashion, but he cannot be used until he appears on the player list so notify me as soon as possible. An email will go out to all captains when new players are made available. New players will only be added at least three days prior to playing in the next BentShaft eligible tournament.

Salary Cap

Each week, the golfers on your team entered in the week's tournament count towards your salary cap, and only the winnings of the golfers under the cap count towards your team winnings. A golfer is entered if he plays even just one hole in the event. When using the team page to check the salary cap, you must make sure you are using the salary cap for either a major tournament or normal event (listed above). The bottom of the Team order page shows the salary cap you are using and has a button to toggle between either major or normal salary cap mode. As shown on the team page, the cap is applied in the order of your team list starting with the top player in the list. The salary cap will be applied to the players in your list that are playing in the week's tournament. On weekends with two tournaments for the PGA, Bentshaft only uses the more important event as shown in the tournament list above. The team order page allows you to adjust your team order showing the salary cap and assumes all the players listed will be playing that week. It is up to you to deteremine who is actually going to play in that week's event, and players that cancel right before the event begins is just part of the BentShaft "experience". Avoid players that are injury prone. As stated above, the salary cap is only applied to players that actually tee off so having one extra player can be a good idea. However, picking healthy, dedicated golfers is by far the best approach. The PgaTour.Com site has a page for most events that lists the tee times for the event. The tee times listed the day before the event on that site seem to be the most reliable way to determine who is and is not playing that week.

Prizes and Entry Fees

Prizes and/or entry fees are determined by your League Manager. Your league page will have details about your league.
